Meet Raman Ghumman, DNP, APRN

Raman Ghumman is the founder and director of Sewa Functional Medicine, where she empowers clients to reclaim their health through personalized, holistic care by finding the root cause of their problems. A board-certified Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of healthcare experience, Raman is certified as a Doctorate in adult and geriatrics and Functional Medicine. Her mission is to provide patient-centered, personalized care that empowers individuals to reclaim their health.

She holds degrees in Biology, Nursing and a Doctorate degree in Nurse practitioner from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, along with advanced training through the Functional Medicine Academy. Dr. Ghumman’s expertise spans functional medicine specialties, including stress and anxiety, Brain & Gut Health, Immune Health, Cardiometabolic Health, Hormonal Balance, and GI Health.

At Sewa Functional Medicine, she combines science-based strategies, personalized nutrition guidance, and compassionate support to optimize wellness, restore balance, and help clients achieve lasting results.

Her unique style and clinical background allow her to practice her passion in healing patients holistically with a mindful approach. She uses her root-cause approach to address each person’s overall physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. She believes in the regenerative medicine approach along with longevity.

Her focus is to address symptoms of each person on an individual level. She believes that real healing starts when a person identifies their root cause instead of chasing each diagnosis. The root cause is identified when each symptom is looked at as a body’s signal that something is dysfunctional. Our body is very intelligent, as it sends us signals or messages that something is not right.

Each visit with her is personalized and focuses on understanding and providing the necessary guidance and tools indicated to improve health outcomes. She thoroughly understands the difference between traditional medicine and functional medicine. By carefully looking at each person’s lifestyle, nutrition, chronic stress, sleep patterns, toxins found in the environment and other important factors, she focuses on addressing each symptom.

Conventional medicine providers usually take short cuts to just prescribing medications and not finding the root cause of your symptoms. At Sewa Functional medicine, we don’t just react to your symptoms like traditional medicine does, we take a proactive step to find out why the person is having those symptoms so we can treat them before they turn into a problem or a disease.

Real healing starts when you listen to your body’s signal and find out ways to cure it and not cover it.

We are here to listen, help and heal you into a new you.

OUR MISSION

At Sewa Functional Medicine, our mission is to provide selfless service to humanity by guiding individuals through a root-cause healing process that honors the whole person, body, mind, emotional health, and spirit. We meet you with compassion, listen deeply, and create personalized plans using science-based strategies, functional testing, and sustainable lifestyle change so you can reclaim your health and feel like yourself again.

The Problem

Currently, chronic conditions are on the rise in our country. Our medical system is focused more on treating these conditions with increasing medical care cost and putting people on medications while ignoring the underlying cause of chronic conditions.

Medications do address and help treat acute illnesses, however they do not uncover the deep rooted cause chronic conditions.

The Solution

Functional medicine focuses on finding out the root cause of chronic conditions which can be caused by environmental exposure, immune response, infections, hormone imbalance, inflammation or digestive gut issues.

Why You Matter

At Sewa functional medicine, I treat each person holistically and individually. Each plan of care is tailored towards helping and supporting you to feel better.  I use a  step by step approach for each individual. I learn about you and your needs and together, we make a plan that can best support you in your journey to feeling better.

I am here to go deeper, because true health is about healing the whole you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Functional medicine is different from conventional medicine as it offers a comprehensive and a holistic view and approach to patient care.  Conventional medicine focuses on specific diagnosis, short appointments, medications to cover the root cause of the problem. The care in functional medicine is not restricted by insurance codes or dictated by insurance companies. It focuses on delivering personalized, high quality and giving affordable care.

We do provide a superbill that can be submitted to private insurance companies for potential reimbursement. Each insurance company is different so please check your insurance provider to confirm eligibility.

What is expected at the first initial visit?

At the first appointment, we typically will look at a detailed view at your health history and lifestyle. We will discuss your symptoms, concerns and goals. I will recommend lab testing and come up with a personalized care plan.

How long does it take to see results?

Every person is different. For some people, it may take weeks to feel better and for others it may take months. But my goal is to take you to that healing process and to make you feel better.

How does the lab testing process work?

If lab testing is recommended, then we’ll discuss which tests would be beneficial and relevant to your plan of care and health goals and outcomes. I use Rupa health, and I will guide you to which labs are recommended for you. The testing ranges from gut health, hormone panels, allergy testing, food sensitivities and others to giving you a clear answer and better understanding the root cause of your health issues.
